How to Set Up Your Store with GearLaunch

Starting your own print-on-demand store with GearLaunch is easy! Follow this step-by-step guide to set up your store, configure email forwarding, and ensure your website is secure with an SSL certificate.

Step 1: Create an Account with GearLaunch

1. Visit GearLaunch.com and click Sign Up.
2. Choose Sign Up with Google and use your Gmail account.
3. Fill in your store name and business details.
4. Click Create Store to set up your store and access the GearLaunch dashboard.

💡 Tip: Choose a clear and memorable store name to help customers recognize your brand.

Step 2: Purchase a Custom Domain

A custom domain helps establish a professional brand presence.
1. Choose a domain registrar like Namecheap, NameSilo, or Name.com
2. Search for your desired domain name (e.g., yourstore.com).
3. Purchase the domain and complete the registration process.

💡 If your current domain registrar does not support email forwarding,
     consider switching registrars or using an external email forwarding service.



Step 3: Submit Your Store for Review

1. Log into your GearLaunch store dashboard.
2. Look for the green bar at the top of your dashboard that says: 
     "This GearLaunch site is not launched yet! Click here to see our Launch checklist."
3. Click on the green bar to access the setup checklist.
4. While it's not required to explore the dashboard right away, familiarizing yourself with it will help you manage your store more effectively.
5. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the store submission section.
6. Select your domain provider, enter your domain, and click Submit.

Your store application will be reviewed within 12 to 24 hours.

Step 4: Configure DNS Settings

Proper DNS configuration ensures your domain directs customers to your store.
1. Log in to your domain registrar.
2. Navigate to DNS Settings or Manage DNS.
3. Follow the step-by-step instructions for your specific registrar in our Domain Setup Guide.
4. Save your changes and allow up to 24 hours for propagation.

Step 5: Set Up Email Forwarding (Required for SSL Certificate)

To receive customer inquiries and enable SSL security, you must set up email forwarding. Without email forwarding, your store will not receive an SSL certificate, which may lead to security warnings for visitors and website functionality issues.

1. In your domain registrar, navigate to Email Forwarding settings.
2. Set up an email address (e.g., support@yourstore.com). Forward emails to your preferred inbox
    (e.g. support@yourdomain.com to support@customteesales.zendesk.com)
3. Test the setup by sending a message to the new email to ensure forwarding works correctly.

💡. If your domain registrar does not provide free email forwarding, consider these alternatives:

- Upgrading to a paid email hosting plan.
- Transferring your domain to a provider that offers free forwarding.
- Using a third-party email forwarding service such as ImprovMX or Zoho Mail.

⚠️ Important: Your SSL certificate will not be issued unless email forwarding is properly configured. If you skip this step, your store may not function correctly.

Step 6: Final Steps - Test & Launch Your Store

Before officially launching, ensure everything is working correctly:

Customize Your Store
- While waiting for your SSL certificate to generate, personalize your store.
- Add product descriptions, banners, and branding elements.
- Ensure your contact page and policies are in place.
- Set up any marketing or SEO settings to attract customers.

Verify Your Store Loads Properly
- Visit yourstore.com and check that your homepage displays correctly.
- If you see a 403 error, revisit Step 5 to confirm your email forwarding and DNS settings.

Place a Test Order
- Add an item to your cart and complete the checkout process.
- Use a real or test credit card to ensure the transaction works.
- Check that you receive an order confirmation email.
- Verify the order appears in your GearLaunch dashboard.
- Once all steps are complete, your store is ready to launch! 🚀
